Wilderness Trips: The 5 Quests At Adirondack

During your stay at Adirondack Camp you may choose to go off-site and further explore the 6 million acre Adirondack Park. Our wilderness program focuses on five quests; penultimate thematic challenges for any would be wilderness adventurer. Hike the Lake George Five, climb the 23 Fire Towers, backpack Northville-Lake Placid, the only through trail across the Adirondacks, dominate the 46 High Peaks or canoe the Wildest Waters Adirondack Park has to offer. Over one session or many summers learn the basics or test your will on quests ranging from one to five days. Explore every facet of the park hiking over and trough mountains, ascending historic fire towers for breath-taking views, canoeing quiet back waters not accessible to motorboats and discovering the true essence of being alive!

Quest One - Lake George Five

Take on the five most prominant peaks above Lake George. With trails ranging from 3-5 miles in length, each mountain offers a new look onto our amazing lake. This Quest is available to all ages and is a great introduction to the Five Quests and Adirondack Park!

Quest Two – Fire Tower Frenzy

23 mountains in the park boast fire towers at their summit. By climbing each one you can see nearly every acre of Adirondack Park. Traditionally used to spot fires in the Adirondacks, they now give a focus to would be explorers. The great variety of difficulty of the climbs makes this a very interesting quest. From less than a mile to over fifteen, these hikes offer one of the most diverse and exciting back country experiences in the Adirondacks! Enjoy a day hike or challenge to climb three in three days, there is a tower for all ages.

Quest Three – Adirondack Wild Waters

Experience the ultimate quiet on this peaceful quest. Explore the wildest and most remote waters by canoe and live as travelers from Adirondack’s long history. Paddle, swim, fish and explore some of the calmest and in some cases most difficult to get to areas of the park, without the noise or distraction of motor craft. We offer overnight trips for all ages so bring a sense of adventure and be calmed by “wild” waters.

Quest Four – Northville-Lake Placid Trail

Cutting across the massive Adirondack Park is the 130 mile Northville-Lake Placid Trail, named for its beginning and ending points. Broken into four hikes this quest gives you the truest wilderness experience. Travel with a backpack into the very wilderness center of Adirondack Park and live a nomadic life for a few days hopping from lean-to to lean-to. This challenging quest is geared for teenage campers looking for a new perspective on life and themselves.

Quest Five – Adirondack 46ers

The ultimate wilderness quest, a challenge for even the most experienced adventurer, climbing the 46 highest peaks in Adirondack Park. Challenge yourself and dominate in this, the Quest to end all quests. Hike switch-back trails, Bushwhack dense shrubbery, test your will against the elements and go to the top of the Adirondack Mountains and be a part of The Experience.
