I’ve been living in Wellington, New Zealand for the last two and a half years and am now on my way back to camp. We’ve visited Bangkok, Hanoi, Vietnam and Cambodia, and along the way we’ve had amazing food, met lovely people, and cruised Halong Bay by boat. It’s been intense, exhausting, overwhelming and wonderful. We’re heading to Don Det, Laos, where the pastimes are hammock swinging, book reading and leisurely bicycle rides along the Mekong river. After Laos, we’re back to Thailand and then to the US. We’ll have about a week with my family and to recuperate from the jet lag before we’re onto the next stop of our adventure, camp!

This will be my 15th summer at Adirondack and I am excited to be back with all of my new experiences to share. After 6 weeks travel through unfamiliar cultures, languages and lands camp seems the perfect place to ground myself again. I am so looking forward to sharing an amazing summer with all of you, to be back in my home away from home and to have more adventures!

This year’s Rangers and CITs are in for a fun and busy summer, being involved in designing and leading the traditions and activities they love. As the oldest campers now, Rangers will contribute their own ideas as we plan special events, from Blue/White challenges to evening activities. CITs will become the figures they looked up to as young campers all those years ago. These role models will help set the tone in cabins and will work on their leadership and teaching skills as assistants in camp activities. They’ll leave camp with the skills and passion essential for being fantastic camp counselors, not to mention a summer full of fabulous memories.

Rangers and CITs, we hope you’re as excited as we are to see how you’ll make this summer at ADK the best one yet!

We’re cranking up our annual Adirondack Camp Family Work Weekend and you’re invited! Come on up and enjoy a weekend on Lake George with other camp families. We’ll provide the cabin and the meals in exchange for your help in getting camp ready for the summer.

Families will stay together in our cabins, and delicious meals will be provided in the mess hall. We’ll pitch in to do work projects during the morning and afternoon, including raking leaves, planting flowers, and cleaning windows. At night, we’ll roast marshmallows around the campfire under the dazzling starry skies of the Adirondacks.

Our Work Weekend is a terrific opportunity for new campers to learn their way around camp, meet our directors and get to know some of our counselors.

Please RSVP so we can hold your bunk. Families are welcome to attend for all or part of the weekend. We hope to see you there!

Great camps in the summer have an outstanding Arts program, and Wow! Do we have exceptional Arts activities in store for campers! In addition to our already incredible in-camp Arts activities, ADK has a wonderful line-up of Guest Artists. New this summer will be two Arts Festivals with one day and week long workshops. Campers can look forward to seeing their favorite Guest Artists plus some new artists that we’re really excited about. See you in the Arts this summer!
