The Levitch-Goodwin Family have owned and operated Adirondack since 1979. Alex went to camp as a boy, as did Alex and Linda’s daughter Shawn. Linda has been primarily responsible for overseeing the Camp operations over the years. Alex has pursued an international business career; and is currently writing his first novel. They live year around with their niece, Kyrstie, at Adirondack.
A message to parents from Alex Levitch:
“When my wife Linda and I purchased Adirondack in 1979, I felt as if I had come full circle in my own life. Twenty-five years earlier, I had started out nervously on my own career as a camper at Adirondack, and three years prior we had rediscovered Adirondack for our daughter, Shawn. She was ten at the time, and I watched her go through the same childhood days of mischief, madcap skits, Blue-White escapades, and coming home deeply proud of her new-found ability to swim two miles without breaking a stroke. Now, here I was buying a camp I had loved as a boy...and not just any camp, but Adirondack! Incredible! A good camp requires much hard work. I am proud of my family, Director and staff. A great camp, however, is one that will inspire the twin values of individualism and community in all its campers. It can do so only by providing young people with a sense of purpose, freedom of selection, simple pleasure, and respect for one's beliefs and all things living. That is how I remember Adirondack. That is how Linda, Shawn, and I pledge to you it will always be.
”
