MINIMUM PROGRAM LENGTH: 2 weeks

PROGRAM DATES: From July 25 to August 7, 2008.

PROGRAM SUPERVISORS
Adirondack Camp staff partnered with the great volunteers organization -- Volunteer Visions, experienced in organizing volunteer relief activities worldwide.

GROUP SIZE: Minimum 6 - Maximum 12 campers.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To qualify, your camper must either be enrolled in the CIT program (age 17) or the Senior Ranger program (age 16), or be a part of our existing Adirondack family in that age range.
Admission will be selective (We are looking, for instance for a level of maturity and serious commitment often lacking in adults!); and selected participants will enter into “contracts” with Camp to commit, in turn, to:

  1. Be good ambassadors for their family, friends, country and camp
  2. Place the needs of their local “clients” above their own
  3. In general, demonstrate in their daily tasks and pleasures the principles of the Ten Commitments upon which Adirondack stands

PICK-UP INFO:
A Volunteer Visions representative will be waiting for us at our arrival point and guide us to our accommodation and project location.

ACCOMODATION:
Campers will live with Peruvian families and/or in school dormitories.

FOOD:
Three local meals will be provided each day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food will usually be local Peruvian dishes (which are very tasty!). Volunteers are fed every day except Sunday by their hosts, and will eat in the field on their weekend adventure tours.

SUGGESTED SKILLS AND INTERESTS:
Volunteers should enjoy working with children, be creative, self-starters and above all compassionate. Volunteers should also be prepared for the living conditions of the placement that are very basic with limited running water and electricity.

SUGGESTED DONATIONS:
Volunteer Visions appreciates your help in bringing clothes both for babies and older kids, toys, flashcards, craft materials, and medicine in case the children catch colds or come down with fevers.

PROGRAM FEES:
CIT Camper Program (17 yr olds) fee is $2,800, as is the fee for 16 or 17 yr old members of our Adirondack family wishing to only participate in this trip this summer.
Senior Ranger (16yr olds) may either:

  1. Add this trip to your existing 4 week session for a fixed incremental tuition of $2,800, (our normal 2 week tuition),
    OR:
  2. Substitute this trip for two weeks of your existing four-week or longer session for a fixed incremental tuition of $950

Either tuition will be all-inclusive (land, air, adventure, customs, taxes, insurance, etc.)
