Nurse

Hello and noonway! My name is Marisa, and this will be my second year as a registered nurse at camp. I can’t wait to meet everyone this summer! I am 36 years old and live just a few minutes outside Albany, NY with my husband and two kids, Amelia and Jack (who also join me at camp). We have three big dogs, two cats, and 21 chickens! I attended the University of Florida for my bachelors in nursing and Georgetown University for my masters in women’s health nursing practice and nurse midwifery. When I’m not working as a RN at camp, I work as a hospitalist midwife in Albany, overseeing the labor and delivery unit overnight and delivering babies! Before I became a nurse, I was a teacher for eight years, so I have lots of experience working with kids and families in all stages of life.
A fun fact about myself is that I’m from Florida and I love everything Disney! We lived an hour from Disney World for most of my life, and my kids and I went every other weekend for almost ten years straight. My secret talent is that I can sing almost every single Disney song — feel free to test me when you see me! Aside from that, I also like to draw, try new arts and crafts, and do just about anything behind the boat or on the water.
Adirondack Camp is special for me and my kids because Lake George was a treasured place for my dad. He would tell me amazing stories of his childhood summers on the lake and had always promised to take me (and eventually his grandkids) one day. While he never had the chance to physically go with us to Lake George, my kids and I know his spirit is with us whenever we are on the peninsula! Lake George is just as incredible as he described, and it has definitely lived up to every “larger than life” story he told. I hope to share that same joy and wonder with campers this summer so that Adirondack Camp becomes their special place, too!
