Noonway folks! My name is Michael and I’m 22. I’m from Bolton in the UK, a twenty-minute drive from Manchester in the north of England. I completed my degree in music composition and performance in 2019, studying jazz and classical music.
This will be my third summer at camp and my first as junior/intermediate boys line head, having previously worked as swim and archery staff. I’m super excited for camp this summer, as Adirondack is definitely the place anyone should ever want to spend their summer.
My favourite two things about camp are the people and the location. Camp gives space for staff and counsellors to be themselves, and also to grow. Seeing campers grow and develop through the summer is so rewarding, from the simple things like getting up on water skis for the first time, to seeing campers come out of their shell to enjoy camp to the fullest. The scenery is also stunning as you may have seen in photos. If you think it can’t look as good as it does in the pictures, then you should see it for yourself because if anything it looks better than the pictures!
When I’m not at camp I love playing music. On a normal day you might find me playing trumpet in a jazz band, bass guitar in a pop band and dabbling in acoustic guitar when I have the time. I’ve been playing music since the age of seven and couldn’t imagine my life without it. Playing music has taken me to Germany, Italy and Ireland, as well as to different parts of the UK. I’m also into soccer in a big way and support my local team Bolton Wanderers who play in the third tier of English soccer.
