Incredible Opening Day for 121st Summer
On Saturday, we officially kicked off our 121st summer on the peninsula, nestled here on the shores of beautiful Lake George! Opening Day was filled with excitement and anticipation as we welcomed both new and returning faces to Adirondack Camp. The air buzzed with the promise of adventure—new friendships to be made, skills to be discovered, and memories waiting to unfold. As trunks rolled into cabins and families said their goodbyes, the summer officially began. Our sleepaway camp adventure awaits—and we’re just getting started.

After check-in and finding out their cabin assignments, cabin staff and Lineheads welcomed campers into their cabins for the summer, helping them settle in, unpack, and make their bunks. Soon after, everyone headed to the lake for swim tests, a requirement for all campers and staff to earn their buddy tags, which is neccesary so that they can participate in water activities in the lake!

In the afternoon, campers split off into their age divisions—what we call “lines” here at Adirondack Camp. There are four lines in total: Junior/Intermediate Pine, Junior/Intermediate Moss, Senior Pine, and Senior Moss. Each line gathered for a welcome meeting to go over the ins and outs of cabin life and to connect with the peers they’ll be sharing their summer with.
After dinner, the fun continued within the lines. Senior campers celebrated the start of the season with a beach party at Senior Point, while the Junior/Intermediate Pines played parachute games on the ballfield. The Junior/Intermediate Moss line took on the Egg Drop Challenge—a fun team-building activity borrowed from our staff training week. Campers worked in small groups to engineer creative contraptions to protect an egg dropped from a height. It’s a silly, exciting, and collaborative activity that always brings lots of laughter—and a few messy splats!

Today activities start! Campers had an opportunity yesterday to see and change their weekly activity schedules, as well as doing a camp tour to see all their options and where each activity takes place. Make sure to follow along with our posts online, we’ll be doing two blog posts a week here, and will be regularly posting on our Instagram, TikTok and Facebook too!
