ADKChella, Cardboard Boats & Carnivale Fun: Week 7 Recap
Our last full week of camp was packed with adventure and energy! We kicked things off Monday morning with the Big Triangle Swim, a challenge of 1.8miles across Lake George from Canoe Dock to Anthony’s Nose, over to Glenburnie, and back again. Then on Tuesday, some of our staff and campers tackled the incredible 5Alive hike, summiting all five mountains around Lake George (18.3miles/30km!). Not only did they finish, they set a new camp record of 9 hours 52 minutes—beating the previous time by a full hour!
Evenings were filled with fun, including Club Night, Cabin Night, and Line Night. Meanwhile, the week also brought some of the most exciting and busy Blue/White events of the summer: Wednesday’s Blue/White Borgball, Friday’s Medley, Saturday’s triple-header of Junior Boomer Ball, Intermediate Hockey, and Senior Volleyball, and the grand finale on Sunday—War Canoe! Despite a strong north wind forcing us to move the course to Junior, the race was fierce, and the camp spirit was off the charts and we begin to round out Blue/White for the summer. So who won summer 2025, the winner and final score is soon to be revealed with the awisikini plaque still to be awarded.
The arts also shined this week. Friday night we gathered for ADKchella and Gallery Night, our once-a-session celebration of creativity, with music, magic performances, and displays of camper artwork from the session. Saturday brought out some engineering skills and plenty of laughter with our Cardboard Boat Regatta, where cabins worked together to build boats out of cardboard and race them at Junior!
Sunday capped things off with Carnivale, organized by Malcolm and our amazing CITs. With a Sesame Street theme, fun carnival games, an inflatable slide, popcorn, and snow cones, the whole camp came alive! Finally, we closed the week with the much-anticipated Staff Show, where our counselors took the stage to entertain and delight campers one last time.
