Choose Your Own Adventure: Club Mornings at ADK

At Adirondack Camp, weekends bring a different rhythm—one that gives space for creativity, freedom, and connection in new ways. Instead of our usual activity schedule, we mix it up! One of our weekend events on Sunday mornings is Club Morning, an opportunity for campers to dive into something new, try out a hidden interest, or just play and explore. Club night is also one of our evening activities we do every couple of weeks that follows the same outline. During club times, we open what we call “the Corridor”—the stretch from basketball to the tennis courts—into an open zone of play with a ball or frisbee. Alongside the action, you’ll find quieter corners offering friendship bracelet making, Magic the Gathering, free swim and the chance the reschedule for the coming week!

This summer, we’ve given our idea of club morning a small pivot—making them more intentional and engaging. Inspired by the way we run our daily Adventure Periods, staff are invited to propose club ideas of their around things they’re passionate about, along side our usual open activities. Last week saw the launch of Knot Club, where campers learned useful knots from the ACYC (Adirondack Camp Yacht Club) team; The Eagle, our new camper-run newspaper club where budding reporters interviewed others about their favorite meals and activities; Lacrosse Club, Yoga, Bird & Mineral Hunting. Whether you wanted to stretch, explore, compete, create, or just chill—there was something for everyone.

The best part? Campers can float between clubs freely—there’s no pressure to commit, just the invitation to follow your curiosity and try something new. It’s a space where two of our plaques—Curiosity and Courage—really come to life. Whether it’s picking up a lacrosse stick for the first time, making your first friendship bracelet, or asking questions as a budding journalist, club time is a chance to grow in ways that feel fun, organic, and completely your own.
We can’t wait to see what new club ideas emerge as the summer unfolds. At ADK, there’s always more to explore!
