Week 5 at Adirondack Camp: New Faces, Fresh Adventures
Week 5 at Adirondack Camp marked a pivotal transition as we said goodbye to our incredible first-session campers and welcomed a brand-new group to the peninsula for Session Two! The week kicked off with fresh energy as new campers settled into their cabins and got their first taste of life on Lake George. Campers toured our activity areas to help them choose their weekly schedules—something we love about ADK is the emphasis on activity choice! What a week of adventure it was! From archery and creative arts to windsurfing and wakeboarding, every corner of camp was buzzing with energy.
Evenings brought their own kind of magic. Cabin nights had s’mores at the campfire and dips in the lake. Our juniors and intermediate line were treated to a live magic show by the amazing David Black, one of our guest artists from the week. On Tuesday night, we gathered for a full-camp campfire where our staff brought the laughs with skits, and Wednesday brought the first Blue/White of second session. New campers were sorted onto their teams before an epic dodgeball match. Blue Team took the win!
Friday brought Awiskini, then on Saturday, the Rangers (our oldest campers) took over to run our all-camp Special Day: Ranger Wrangle, followed by the always highly anticipated dance that night. We closed out the week with Club Morning and Blue/White Capture the Flag game on Sunday, wrapping up the day with Gathering to reflect on the week behind us and the adventures still to come.
On This Week
We have guest artists Amy and Dawn visiting to teach paper marbling! The Ottawa white-water kayaking trip is headed out for an awesome few days of shredding on the Ottawa River. On Tuesday night we have our friends from the Square Dance coming where everyone at camp will get a chance to take part in various dances from all over the world, it’s always a super fun evening! It’s going to be another awesome week on the peninsula, we can’t wait for what the rest of second session brings.
