The Braves Code

by Chris

Wednesday, October 31st 2012 at 4:53pm

To become a Brave you have to pass a test of silence, service, and memory. Memorizing the Braves Code of Honor is apart of the test of memory. Do you know it by heart?

The Braves Code of Honor:
He believes in the Great Spirit, who is everywhere at all times
He respects elders, for with age comes wisdom
He respects property; theft to the Adirondackee Brave is unknown
He speaks with a straight tongue and thinks of a liar as a coward
His word is his bond; His promise he will not break
He has courage for His people would suffer if He were cowardly
He is not selfish but gives of himself to the tribe
He is not wasteful, for the things that He receives are from the Great Spirit
He believes in so living his life that the fear of death shall never enter his heart.

The people are just amazing. Adirondack attracts the best of the best, and I’ve met some of the best friends anyone could ever ask for at camp. They are the kind of people that, even if you don’t see them for a year or two, nothing changes.

If a hurricane is likely in your area, you should:

Ensure a supply of water for sanitary purpose such as cleaning and flushing toilets. Fill the bathtub and other larger containers with water. Find out how to keep food safe during and after and emergency. Stay indoors during the hurricane and away from windows and glass doors. Close all interior doors – secure and brace external doors. Keep curtains and blinds closed. Do not be fooled if there is a lull; it could be the eye of the storm winds will pick up again. Avoid elevators.
